The annoying part came next: She'd extend her claws and start scratching at the window (it sounded like nails on a chaulk board from the inside) until I woke up and opened the window for her to come in.Wouldn't you know it, it wasn't until after I moved out that my parents installed a cat door so she could get in and out totally on her own. She'd sit up on her haunches, put her front paws on the screen over the window, insert her claws and start yanking back until the screen came loose and then nudge it to the side. If she were outside when everyone went to bed, she'd come by the window in my bedroom (which was in the basement, so my window was right at ground-level).

For a while it worked fineuntil he figured out that breaking the tape (by jumping and tearing itwith his claws) and then using the lever again. He stands as tall aspossible and pulls down on the lever and slightly pulls back to get thedoor ajar (the doors open by pulling back not pushing) then when thedoor is ajar he sticks his paw underneath the door and pulls it open!To prevent him from doing this I put some tape on the lever so thatpulling down would not work only pushing up. I thought it was aburglar until I saw a sillouette of a cat running to the kitchencupboard (where the food is stored), I did not belive it was possibleso I figured maybe the door was left ajar.Well today I was in the room and saw him do it. I never trained him to open doors but I did notice thathe kept watching me open the room doors then one day I was watching TVin the livingroom and I hear a door creaking open. But like I said, she shows no other signs of pain and doesn't complain when I tested around her hips and back legs for pain spots.Pretty amazing. I work from home so I know there hasn't been any incident between her and mama cat, but Kitty does go outside frequently (we have a dog door that she uses at will) so I can't rule out injury from some other cause. She just sits below it and meows pitifully that she can. I saw her try to jump up a few days ago and not be able to, and since then she's not even tried.
She's never had a problem before, and she's not old - only 4 years - so it's not an age issue. She's not exhibiting any other signs of pain or illness. However, now Kitty suddenly won't jump up on the counter where her food bowl has always been kept. I saw her try to jump up onto the couch today - a much lower jump than the counter - and she did make it, but just barely and it seemed really difficult for her. I tried letting her cry for a while thinking she may just be freaked out from accidentally missing the jump before, and the food was a good motivator to make her get over it, but she truly can't jump. She just sits below it and meows pitifully that she can't reach her food.
However, now Kitty suddenly won't jump up on the counter where her food bowl has always been kept.
